This collection contains correspondence, minutes, annual, financial, and statistical reports, lists of members of the board, mortgages, historical pamphlets, charters, deeds, by-laws, endowments, and legacies, relating to 207 colleges, academies, and theological seminaries, and to the board, originally known as the Board of Aid to Colleges and Academies, and later as the College Board, and the General Board of Education, 1883-1948. This collection includes material on a variety of topics: committees, conferences, programs; synods, and training schools of various divisions of the board; the Andrew Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching; Federal Council of Churches in America; National Student Committee for the Limitation of Armaments, Philadelphia School for Christian Workers; Presbyterian College Union; and the Student Volunteer Movement for Foreign Missions.
